Rising dramatically above the sea just outside Henningsvær, Presten is one of Lofoten’s most iconic climbing mountains. With its impressive granite walls, exposed ridges and spectacular views across the islands, it offers a true taste of what climbing in Lofoten is all about.

The Climbing

Presten offers several excellent climbing routes of different grades and character. Your guide will choose a route based on your previous experience, climbing ability and ambitions for the day.

The adventure starts with an approach to the base of the mountain before we rope up and begin climbing. From here, we make our way upwards through multiple pitches of solid Lofoten granite, with the landscape opening up beneath us as we gain height.

Depending on the route, you can expect a combination of technical climbing, exposed sections and incredible positions high above the sea.

Throughout the day, your guide takes care of route finding and safety. For those interested in developing their climbing skills, there will also be opportunities to learn more about movement, multi-pitch climbing and the use of traditional protection.

Who Is This Tour For?

This trip is suitable for climbers with experience. You should be in good physical condition and comfortable spending a full day in steep mountain terrain up to grade 6a.

You don’t need to be an expert climber. We adapt the route and difficulty to your experience and goals, making Presten an excellent choice both for those looking to take their climbing further and experienced climbers wanting to discover some of the best routes in Lofoten.
