Stjerntinden – Norway’s Most Challenging Municipal Summit
Stjerntinden is considered the second most difficult mountain summit to reach in Norway – and the most challenging municipal high point in the country.
Join the small number of people who have stood on its summit. This is a true mountain adventure from start to finish, combining a long approach, exposed terrain and exciting climbing in spectacular Lofoten surroundings.
The adventure begins with approximately 750 vertical metres of ascent before we reach the start of the climbing route.
The Climb
The climbing itself is relatively moderate, but includes a few more challenging sections around grade 5 (Norwegian grading). The route follows the mountain’s impressive south-facing ridge towards the summit.
We climb a total of four pitches before reaching the top at 938 metres above sea level.
This is a demanding mountain day, and participants should be in good physical condition and comfortable moving in steep and exposed terrain. Previous climbing experience is an advantage.
Our guides take care of the technical climbing and safety throughout the day, guiding you safely to the summit and back down again.
Your Guides
Stjerntinden is guided by an IFMGA Mountain Guide (Tindevegleder) or a guide currently completing the IFMGA Mountain Guide qualification.
