Climb the iconic Svolværgeita with I Fri Natur. Together with our experienced guides, you’ll enjoy a safe and spectacular climbing experience with incredible views over Svolvær, the sea and the dramatic mountains of Lofoten.
The tour starts at the parking area below Svolværgeita. Here, we’ll go through the plan for the day, fit your climbing equipment and talk about what to expect before we start the hike towards the mountain.
We follow the Sherpa Steps uphill, and it takes approximately 40 minutes to reach the base of Svolværgeita. Along the way, we take our time to enjoy the views and are happy to share stories about the area, its climbing history and the surrounding mountains.
At the base of the route, we get ready for the climb. From here, two pitches of exciting rock climbing lead us towards the characteristic horns of Svolværgeita. The climbing is around grade 4–5 and offers exposed sections with increasingly spectacular views over Svolvær, Vestfjorden and the mountains of Lofoten. The climbing can feel steep and challenging, but your guide will keep you safely secured throughout the climb.
Once we reach the top, we take some time to enjoy the incredible views and capture the moment on one of Lofoten’s most iconic summits. After a short break, we rappel back down to the base of the climb.
From here, we hike back down towards Svolvær after a memorable adventure on Svolværgeita.

Svolværgeita is an outdoor climbing adventure, and weather and conditions may affect the plan. We always assess the conditions and adapt the tour to provide the best possible and safest experience.

No previous rock climbing experience is required, but the tour involves steep and exposed climbing and is best suited for guests who are comfortable with heights and have a normal level of fitness.
All necessary climbing and safety equipment is included.
